At the height of the Vietnam war in 1969, just eligible for the draft, Rafael Cruz couldn’t find an oil industry in Texas, so he fled to Canada to ‘work in the oil business.’ where he IMMEDIATELY applied for Canadian citizenship.

Surprisingly, in 1975 right when the Vietnam war ended, Rafael Cruz found his way back to the states, but as a Canadian citizen.

I think you will find the it was the Jim Garrison investigation of Clay Shaw’s CIA operation in New Orleans the induced Rafael Cruz, the older, to flee to Canada.

Did you know that more Canadians fought for the US in Vietnam than Americans fled to Canada to avoid the draft? By 3:1.
