Yes I agree. When speculating about what he would do before his announcement I said to my wife the best thing he can do now is to quit the run. If he continues he will destroy any future he has. In his speech I thought he would be a tad more open to the idea of having a unified party so that part was missing from what I hoped for. At least he did not go out looking completely unhinged like Gay Sick will.

As far as going forward, whether Trump wins or loses the election, this is a broken party. I don’t see any agreement between the rightside conservatives and the moderates. In the past when the moderates won, they convinced the rightside to go along with them, most did. That has been broken now beyond repair IMO as both the rightside conservatives and moderates are not happy. We recognize the GOP has not been a true conservative party for many years yet in the landscape controlled by two parties it is the better. The last real conservatives won in the 20’s.

Both major parties are in trouble. We just hear about the GOP more than the Dems, but both no longer represent what people want. Of course, they rarely did but with today’s media it is more open about it.
