Like it or not, there's truth in what he says.

Asia represents a gigantic, rapidly growing market while the US is growing at less than 2%. Our companies need access to those markets, and it will be much better for us if we can control the terms.

Those countries are going to trade with someone. We had better be in the mix.

What you say is very true. The trick is to capitalize on those markets w/o selling our country’s soul for cheap labor. What good are inexpensive products if half the frigging country needs some form of subsidization to purchase them!
