Huummm

NSA doing its job to catch spies....

“The digital equivalent of invisible ink is steganography software, apps that embed files and data inside other files, hidden from everyone who doesn’t know any better. ... With some free tools for both the Mac and PC, you can embed secret information in image, PDF, HTML and MP3 files”

Gotta check kiddie pron like everything else. Now, if look at this (disassembling to look for hidden data) not for the job - then , ya pretty creepy....

Even more dangerous is how easy it is for them to plant incriminating child porn photos on your computer without you even knowing it.

The Dark Net is where terrorists, spooks, and purveyors of kiddie porn hang out, so why is this surprising?

“I find this difficult to believe. My last two employers had programs that spotted illicit activities. Just knowing such programs were out there would stop most of this activity. HR would handle the rest.”

Any employer of any substantial size does. There are some ugly liabilities involved. For example, if those images exist in the corporate servers’ cache, is the company liable? The CIO? If it’s just “porn”, how do you know how old the people in the images are? This is why the few lunatics who have done this (and AFAIK just for plain old porn) at various employers I’ve had in the last 20 years were disappeared by the next day. Of course, if you WORK for the government, no problemo, apparently.

“Government computers are likely much more restrictive on what they can do and where they can access.”

Certainly true in some areas, but Internet access for research and searches is just a requirement for many jobs these days. I could not do my job without access to technical sites and even blogs, for instance.

The NSA screening procedure selects for controllable sociopaths with suppressed empathy of a fascist, Nazi turn of mind, the type that will follow an illegal order without batting an eye. The type that identifies masochistically to authority, the type that is sexually repressed and psychologically trapped in childhood frustration and Oedipal conflict that leads to homosexuality and pederasty. Gays make excellent spies and task masters, always have, particularly ones having to use guile and wit to remain in the closet.

When I was young I went to work at a company in East Menlo Park called Intertek Testing Services. They tested stuff and gave them the famous UL Listing.

The very first time, the very first day, I turned on my computer there was ghey p0rn.

I sure was glad the IT guy was standing right there at that instant.
