I mentioned that Rand would bring a lot to the table as a VP pick months ago; from a strategic perspective Rand would pull in both disgruntled Sanders voters and libertarian leaning independents, in numbers sufficient to win against Hillary. From a pragmatic perspective, he meets Trumps requirement of someone who knows the business rules for getting things done in DC. Trump is a smart, strategic thinker, would not surprise me at all if he picks Rand.
It is a Two-Fer with Newt as Chief of Staff to get things through the House and Rand to get them trough the Senate, talk about a win-win. IMHO Rand owns Mitch, without his support in KY last cycle it may have been Senator Bevin. His knowledge of Health care as an MD who still does surgery isn't to shabby either if you want to repeal & replace O-Care...
