He is correct but he lost me with the Cruz worship. Cruz was a very flawed candidate. Truth in advertising, I was a big Cruz supporter in the beginning. He lost me the longer he went on. I mean, Glen Beck, Carley? truly desperate and going all Elmer Gantry near the end. Sorry. Cruz was the problem not the solution. Our problems are so numerous we need to hit them a few at a time rather than trying to right the ship all at once. It took decades for us to descend to this point.
We need to do some serious naval gazing. We have met the enemy and he is us. Famous line from cartoon strip Pogo.
We didn't do enough at the local level to stop the slide. Has anyone attended a school board meeting and complained about the textbooks our kids use?????????? Well???????
It starts with us. How many have been in a position to run for some local office and didn't. Too much trouble etc.
Am I wrong???????????????
I was involved in the local Tea Party movement. It has petered out but we did get local change at the party level after a huge fight. We are still fighting the entrenched Rino’s but we are winning. They are still using every method to discredit us and force us out.
Keep fighting. Also involved in getting Common Core out of the schools. We elected a Tea Party member to the state Senate and she is carrying the fight to the legislature. Big money is keeping us from winning there, for now.
so I toss out the gauntlet.
How involved are you?????????????????????????

Lively’s point is that Trump could never have been considered the conservative candidate in a time of “values voter” considerations. We are past that, because the threat is now different and much more severe. Even with his flaws, Cruz DOES represent the conservative values that we USED to hold dear as true conservatism. How many Senators joined him when he attempted to filibuster the funding of Obamacare? Cruz only appears “bizarre” because our viewpoint has become so skewed by the current environment.

And I’m not sure how you link Glen Beck as an embraced figure by Cruz. Carly? What gives with the new denigration? She was championed by quite a few conservatives on this site who now support Trump.

By the way, I COMPLETELY agree with you on our horrible neglect of local government. Conservatives’ are asleep at the wheel, making local races and policy making easy pickings for the left, who is able to organize and energize their base much more effectively where conservatives are out to lunch.

Yes, I’ve been involved. I stood to speak at my city council meeting in opposition to the “transgender” fascist ordinance that was before it, surrounded by the contempt of the most bizarre and demonic cross-dressers imaginable.
