Keep it Federal and increase your reach. Don’t let private enterprise get involved. That is not a route to power.

While U.S. airports do have the ability to ditch the TSA and hire private security, Edwards said the Obama administration is making it much tougher to do that.

I’d be concerned about security while waiting in those long lines to get through security, myself.

What did we expect when they were allowed to unionize even though it went against the statute. Thank you G.W.

The airlines and airports know in advance the rate that passengers will be boarding aircraft and they know the amount of baggage they will bringing.

They know in advance the capacity of their screening systems. They know in advance the wait times for passengers at any given time.

Why the problem?

Did the TSA beg for more personnel and equipment and were denied? Did the personnel and equipment underperform?

Did the airlines, who knew their large bookings would lead to large delays ... did they let the delays happen knowing that the TSA would be blamed and they would end up blameless and with nice fat wallets?

Did the airlines overbook the airports?

I don’t know why more frequent flyers don’t sign up for *TSA Pre-Check*.

My son flies to and from Florida each week. It’s an intrusive process; yet getting fingerprinted [already, for a CCW you must have this], having his passport scanned and paying a $85 non-refundable application fee [[fortunately his employer reimbursed him], it is good for five years.

He says he has never waited in line [yet] and breezes through the screening; BDL to JAX.

With a ‘Known Traveler Number,’ or ‘KTN’ when he books his flight, his number appears on his boarding pass.

FWIW, I think the terrorists have won; by inconveniencing all travelers. YMMV

Arriving early doesn’t bother me much. I like to read a book and people watch.

But the TSA is a crock of crap.
