In the southern primaries, Cruz preached and proselytized and assiduously courted evangelicals....expecting evangelicals to boost him into a front-runner.

Never happened......b/c they all voted for Trump.

Evangelicals want nothing more than to be able to practice their faith in peace. So when Trump said he was going to take care of Christian-hating Muslims.....evangelicals went all in for Trump.

Well, the majority of the southern evangelicals did NOT accept that Cruz after Iowa was the ‘face of God’... Lesson is do NOT mess with God... nobody cons God.

Exactly. Also, Southerners know the Gospel. They may not live it. They may reject it. But they KNOW it. The weird, false notes in the Cruz campaign beginning with Beck put them off. We are still a distinct culture, to the chagrin of Statists in both parties.
