An American GI defected to North Korea. Now his sons are propaganda stars
The Washington Post ^ | May 25, 2016 | Anna Fifield

Posted on 05/25/2016 8:11:50 PM PDT by Trump20162020

Their names are Ted and James, and they look like the kinds of men you might bump into on the streets of Richmond, Va., where their father was born.

But they’re speaking perfect North Korean and wearing badges of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the first two leaders of North Korea, over their hearts. Oh, and the younger one, James, is a captain in the North Korean army.

They’re the Pyongyang-born sons of James Joseph Dresnok, the former American GI who defected to North Korea in 1962 when he was stationed in South Korea after the war.

And they’ve just appeared in an extraordinary video published online by Minjok Tongshin, a pro-Pyongyang news service based in the United States that runs the kind of stories that wouldn’t look out of place in North Korea’s official media.

It is a glowing article, the kind of thing about tyrannical regimes you would expect from the Washington Post.

They sure do love their dictators.

As for those guys, they aren’t Americans, they are typically brainwashed North Koreans who happen to be caucasian.

What is the REAL reason these rare white North Koreans are ordered to marry also other weird white North Koreans, or abducted whites..?

To make white babies which are NK but as overseas operatives would not arouse suspicion:

Like if they were photographing installations as tourists.

South Korea has a Western feel and its a free country.

I’ve never understood the attraction some people have for totalitarianism.

North Korea is not exactly a tourist destination.

He was a defector.

But the Norks are a racist society.

Why not the Soviet Union?

Yep, when I saw that his surname was Dresnok, the first thing that came to mind was Richmond, Virginia. Just teeming with Dresnoks. /s

The abductions of Japanese citizens from Japan by agents of the North Korean government happened during a period of six years from 1977 to 1983.

Although only 17 Japanese (eight men and nine women) are officially recognized by the Japanese government as having been abducted, there may have been hundreds of victims...

James Joseph Dresnok, the former American GI who defected to North Korea in 1962 when he was stationed in South Korea after the war.

An often made mistake; the Korean conflict is not over. We have a suspension of hostilities in place which NK has a bad habit of violating regularly.

Dresnok grew up a poor orphan in Virginia, and never finished high school. He had little choice but go to the army when after a first stint in West Germany, he was sent over to the most dangerous border in the world, the DMZ. Dresnok has now lived for 44 years in Pyongyang, capital city of North Korea, one of the most deeply anti-American societies in the world. He worked for the Korean People’s Army as an English teacher, learned the language and the system.

Poor things. They know nothing else. A traitor for a father, a mother who was kidnapped.

Just like "Austrian" is a language?

They were born in North Korea. How would they be traitors?
