Zoo enclosures to dangerous animals are usually set up with multiple barriers so the kid must have been unattended for some time to make it that far. Whoever was with him is responsible for the death of an endangered species.

And they’re probably about to come into a substantial sum of money. Pity. I’m sure the child WILL be traumatized though.

Kid’s lucky it was a gorilla and not a chimp. Chimps do unspeakably frightful things to their victims in situations like this.

Maybe the zoo needs to hire a new architect, or maybe just get a new management team. They had a polar bear get out a few weeks ago.

of course they had to kill the animal, but if he wanted that kid dead, it would have taken 15 seconds.

It makes one wonder what the real purpose of a "zoo" is.
Quite frankly, unless the animals are domesticated and capable of being housed as pets or companion animals, what is the overarching reason.

They said the gorilla had hold of the boy and their thought was that there’s almost always a violent reaction with tranquilizing.

Indeed. I have anesthetized animals, and there always is a phase where the animal thrash around prior to going to sleep. A gorilla thrashing around like that while holding a child could easily smash the child.

Not being a smartass, just asking a sincere question. Could be that the taser isn’t powerful enough for that sized beast.
