This absolutely disgusts me. This fool is going to cost us the election because he and some bitter Cruz supporters didn't get their way. He knows it will split the vote and we won't win. A few things:
1)He wants to cause enough of a vote split where no candidate has the 270. Ok. Let's say he does that. He will literally be usurping the will of all the people who voted for Trump in the primaries and general (which will be way more than his guy).
2)That assumes his candidate will even win one state. I would venture to guess his candidate won't win a single state but will divide the votes enough to help Hillary.
3)Maybe he wants Hillary. I had a Cruz supporter tell me on Twitter he'd rather 4 years of Hillary (he says it will only be 4 years) and 2 Supreme Court picks from her (he insists it will only be 2) so he can get a conservative like Cruz in 4 years.
Somewhere Hillary is cackling at the stupid party and "principled" conservatives who are willing to torpedo Trump to get all or nothing.
Let's hope either Bill is bluffing or this fails. Even Trump the other day seemed to concede it would give Hillary the election.
It takes a special kind of elitist attitude to usurp the voters of your own party and tell them you know better.
And the deadline for getting such a candidate on the ballots would be when?
If the process is not well underway this is just bloviation.
After having been burned by Jeb blowing through $140 million, mega-rich donors would have to be insane to back someone who can’t win.
That’s like burning their own money. A third party candidate has zero chance to win.
No matter Kristol claims otherwise. His fantasy candidate is going nowhere.

Now he’s willing to risk handing the Presidency over the Hillary Clinton.
That ought to move him from opportunist all the way to traitor.
He just makes crazy noises trying to attract attention to sell his magazine. The mag his father built ( and which was worth reading regardless of whether you always agreed or not) - the mag that’s now just a waste of a good tree each month

The only way this works I think is if Hillary is forced out for some reason then there will be a flurry of court challenges for third party candidates to get on the ballot.
Although most likely Sanders is the only one that has a chance of doing real damage.

Absolutely true. Trump IS the Independent candidate. Both he and Sanders, from very different areas on the political spectrum, and with very large natural constituencies, have reached over and pulled the veil of pretense off the one true Establishment candidate, the NeoLib NeoCon, the ultimate political whore, Hillary Clinton. This is really unprecedented, in my lifetime at least, and it constitutes the most interesting ongoing configuration of our politics I’ve seen yet.

The republican elite is over. They don’t know it, of course, but I hear it whenever I tune into Chris Wallace’s show or Bret Baier’s.
