It is not easy to identify criminals and the mentally incompetent to ensure that they do not get their hands on guns, knives, and other weapons.

Only those with disordered minds want to take guns away from law abiding citizens. Unfortunately that is too easy and counter-productive, but it is what Democrats want to do, so they can feel good about themselves. Anything meaningful is too complex for them, plus it takes time.
