A train carrying cars full of oil headed for Tacoma derailed Friday in Oregon's scenic Columbia River Gorge, sparking a fire that sent a plume of black smoke high into the sky.

Buffett owns BNSF. This is a Union Pacific train on UP tracks.
Uh... so how am I wrong? Buffett still has his BNSF, still protected from competition from any new pipelines by his pal in the WH.
I immediately wondered about eco-sabotage... there is a very strong movement of illegal blockages etc. in the northwest against “oil trains” .... yes, they hate pipelines but they hate trains too, they are trying to stop all fossil fuel transport....
Gosh, I WONDER if pipelines would help this, huh..?

in western WA state also... around 50 of them were recently lying down on rail tracks to stop some transport.....
There is a BNSF spur that leads into the refinery at Anacortes. That’s where they lay down.
There’s a proposal to make an oil terminal near Portland. This might affect whether that happens. On the other hand, if the oil terminal is not built, the trains may very well come near Portland anyway and then head north as this one was scheduled to do.
Pipelines are BAD.
Oh tell me it isn’t so. Carrying oil by train is so much safer than a stinking pipeline.
That makes how many derailments, spills and fires in just the last year?
I counted six separate big ones in just the first two pages of this little search.

Plausible, could tie in with the recent refinery protests.
