It’s a good statement, but he gets into the merits of the case a bit too much. I want to hear more from Trump (or others on his behalf if necessary) about the bias of the judge, since that is what people are trying to hang him for.

Yes, he needs to use this opportunity to give the American public a primer course on LaRaza.

Trump does best with one liners and sound bites. That statement was long and lucid. So meh.

Now let’s focus on all the Mexicans we are going to excrete come the new administration. There are tens of millions we need to round up!

He did mention the Judges bias. Excerpt below:

“Due to what I believe are unfair and mistaken rulings in this case and the Judge’s reported associations with certain professional organizations, questions were raised regarding the Obama appointed Judge’s impartiality. It is a fair question. I hope it is not the case.”

Not at all!! It's a warning shot to any former student of Trump U who might be tempted into joining the law suit. They now know that every positive word they said about the experience is on record, and they'll be destroyed with their own words.

He doesn't have to prove the bias of the judge, all he has to do is QUESTION whether the judge is being fair--and that is enough. Asking questions or raising the possibility of bias is not wrong.

Alberto Gonzalez, the first Hispanic Attorney General in the history of the nation, says Trump is right to question Curiel's fairness.

The media somehow has set a fake bar way way too high...a bar the media did NOT raise when Sonya Sotomayor said that ethnicity DID IN FACT affect judge's decisions!

Exactly. I don’t know why he started this, but he needs to show the reason for the bias from the judge being of Mexican heritage.

He should have brought up the La Raza connection and explained the La Raza viewpoint on open borders and immigration. That would have been the argument. Instead he left himself open to criticism about his supposed racism—and this statement doesn’t make much headway either to explain the judge’s behavior.

For a smart man, he’s not acting or talking in a way that would make his point clear. Now he’s jammed himself up.
