To be sure, Donald Trump could have spoken more carefully and clearly, instead of initially referring to Judge Curiel, born in the USA, as Mexican, and relying on his affiliations and his serving on a scholarship selection committee that chose an illegal alien to receive funding to attend law school. So why wouldnt Donald Trump be concerned about the rule of law being applied fairly?
Because it often is not.
This past week at his San Jose rally, an unruly mob violently attacked Trump supporters. The mayor, while condemning violence against those exercising free speech and assembly, had his police force stand down for fear of further inciting the crowd. So much for enforcing the law. Any guess whether the response would have different if it had been a Hillary Clinton rally and Trumpsters were beating up her supporters?
Instead Trump supporters were blamed for the violence of Democrats and other anti-Trump forces. The rule of law was trumped over political concerns. Might the Trump University trial face similar selective justice and be of concern to Donald Trump as a defendant in the case?
*snip*
What about illegal immigration? Opposition to illegal immigration is not about race, its about enforcing the law. Just like Trumps opposition to the judge. If anything, illegal immigration is a post-racial problem. Its already a model of diversity given the multitude of ethnic and racial groups migrating to America.

let’s say the judge AND the complaintant’s attorney were members of the KKK
and
the defendant was BLACK...

Comments at source are pretty darned good, too.
Ever heard of Charles W. Pickering?
Ever heard of Sonya Sotomayor?
How are these two different?
Amazing that only Christie stood up for Trump...and everyone else took cheap shots.
The five GOP Primary races exonerated DJT last evening. The Democrat low life & their print & TV media are lost at sea!!! As for the Republican Establishment, vermin, types....what’s the big deal...they have been eating their own forever!!! fear not folks....Trump will elected POTUS and, he win his “U” cast come late November!!! This “dirty” “La Raza” judge in not clean at all...but, is just another “Wolf in Sheep’s clothing!!! Par for the course!!!
It IS about race. WTH do you think LaRaza ia all about? How about the Hispanic Caucus? How about MEChA? How about LULAC? How about the Hispanic Bar Association? How about the literally hundreds/thousands of race based groups?
I noticed that too. Christie will be working with Trump next year in some capacity.
Mr. Trump, PLEASE start educating the American People on exactly WHAT LaRaza is, and why they are so vile. I fear too many out there don’t have a clue.
Trump's brilliance is that he picks a vulnerable and worthy target and launches a broadside. It makes the headlines and gets everyone's attention. Once everyone is listening he explains the real problem.
Had Trump carefully worded his objections to Curiel, no one would have paid attention. Now, 100,000 lawyers are going to be reading every sentence he writes in every ruling he makes. Curiel will bend over backwards to be careful, on paper at least to set forth the facts as they are in the record and then apply the law as it actually is. Rule of law wielded by reasoning and reasonable men and women is a beautiful thing to be hold. Arbitrary and capricious rulings by out of control, desultory, biased judges is as ugly as sin. It's the very definition of sin.
Because the press and the GOPee sellouts jumped on Trump for being a racist, we are learning. Those folks apparently never do. When are Ryan and McConnell going to walk their sorry asses out of the ambush they so gleefully walked into.
I think odds are good that this judge will have to remove himself from the case...likely slowing the process down and making it less of an election issue.
Its almost like this ‘off handed comment’ by Trump was planned.
The silver lining to Trump's incomplete expression of the problem with the judge is the response from those who were supposedly loyal to him. Case in point....Gingrich. I wonder how many others on the inside who aren't really loyal to Trump's agenda couldn't resist trying to use the statement to their advantage. Good. Trump's going to have to keep cleaning house. Whenever he hires someone, there's a danger that person is actually loyal to the establishment agenda.
There are others who haven't tried to sidetrack Trump over this. Two who come to mind are Huckabee and Santorum. Another one, so far,...Portman.
Of course it was planned. Trump manipulates the media better than their own puppet masters. Trump is playing 3D Speed Chess, while the media and his adversaries are still trying to figure out how a knight moves.
I am literally dumbfounded that Newt was so foolish.
To a much less degree, the same principle applies to Ryan. Trump is the leader of the party now. At the very least, these people should give him the benefit of the doubt until they can get the straight scoop directly from Trump.
Trump will take notice of this. He won't trust the people again. And that goes doubly for Newt.
By failing to learn that the judge is a La Raza Lawyer, they all damaged the party...and looked like hysterical fools to boot.
Trump should and will hold them accountable.
Newt, Ryan & Graham are not team players. We need to cut bait.
Yup, Laraza judges which are “the race” judges, it is not about your agenda and your race, it is about USA _law_. Or get out. Period.
But they didn't.
Their rush to judgment will not be forgotten by Trump or the rest of us.
They cannot be trusted.
Ever.
