Ann Coulters' 2011 book, Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America vividly described the mob mentality and in particular, how it drove the French Revolution, which resulted in the wholesale slaughter of most of the leaders of the day, including thousands of Catholic priests. It is one of her best and most mature books. I highly recommend it.
