As much as I distrust Snopes on all things political, they do have actuals to more than panicky bloggers. The ERAD is for prepaid cards, such as those used by illegals and drug smugglers. So, if you travel with a wallet full of prepaid Visa cards, then you have something to worry about.
But it cannot clean out a bank account.

And, when they first passed the seat belt law in Pa, they PROMISED citizens they would NEVER be pulled over for just that “minor” infraction. Now, they have CLICK IT OR TICKET”
And, when tasers were first used by police, they PROMISED they would be VERY CAUTIOUS and JUDICIOUS in their use, and ONLY be used in rare circumstances. NOW, they are commonly used against citizens.
Nothing to worry about? I don’t care to be a frog in warm water, thanks.
And I SURE don’t trust our GLO-BULL-IST “rulers” when they “reassure” us.
I know people who put their entire pay into prepaid credit cards. They aren’t doing anything illegal. They just want the convenience of a credit card, without racking up large bills.

And the thing stopping it is...? Principle? Some sort of red line we should assume will not be casually crossed with little to no fanfare? The tireless oversight and vigilance of legislators?
