Was there also going to be security outside to stop them from being shot as they left at the end of the night? Or from being bombed, having an SUV drove onto the sidewalk into them or having acid thrown in their faces?
I just don’t see security as the issue in cases like this. You can maybe protect a single individual a la the Secret Service, although even that didn’t work 100% with Reagan. But the idea of securing every random person out in public isn’t realistic.
