If they waited they violated a lot of what is now SOP in majority of active shooter responses for most LEO/FLEA agencies .

....... if I’m first responder my delay will be to grab my evil “patrol rifle”, don a 7.62 rated plate carrier vest w spare ammo and run to the sound of gunfire with the primary duty to stop, distract and or put myself between the shooter and his or her intended targets till the cavalry arrives

........ From the photo of the kevlar brain bucket that the cop that got hit in the noggin. It was old school kevlar issued to every average patrolman these days. Not a high speed low drag fashionista swat / special ops type helmet.

I’m not defending the local police if they waited but from what I’ve just seen and know from past experience ....... just sharing a thought on the matter, right or wrong...

The officer was shot 3 HOURS after the shooter started shooting. What were the officers doing during those three hours? They were hiding behind their patrol cars. Why didnt they attack as soon as possible? They knew people were bleeding out during the entire 3 hour period.

It’s a classic “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” in some respects. But if you draw a line from Columbine to the Bataclan, the lesson is, waiting means more killed.

This guy wasn’t trying to arrange a jet to Libya. He was going right for his 72 virgins.

He’d already made a 9-11 call announcing his allegiance to ISIS. Bone headed to give him 3 hours inside to set up a kill box for his hostages.

Just put 300 through the AR today. 200 through the M1A. At 150 and 350 yards respectively. Aimpoint and scope dialed in for same.

100 through the EDC piece (XDS, .45) at ten yards.

Turning ammo into skill.

Check 6 all.

Pulse Night Club Mass Shooting Orlando, FL June 2016

Situations at at scenes of violence often present unforeseen circumstances and do not fit training exercises. Dispatchers' descriptions often fail to match situations at scenes. Surprises, confusion and distractions are common. Those rounds that you hear being fired several times in the video are most likely rounds from police weapons. They were firing to stop the suspect with crowds of people around.
