I think a better book to review this question from a different angle would be Brigitte Gabriel’s book “Because They Hate”.
We can wonder where that hate comes from, but I am satisfied that they simply hate. It is what their religion encourages and even requires them to do.

He also ordered that a poet who insulted him be assassinated.
And the Quran explicitly calls for unbelievers to be beheaded and terrorized.
This is the “perfect man” who is their role model for what is right and wrong.
Lots of Muslims today are the descendants of peoples who were forcibly converted to Islam.
For lots of muslims, Islam isn’t a big part of their identity or thinking.
Each person who is nominally connected to the faith will accept it to different degrees and emphasize different parts.
Yet the original faith itself is violent extreme and wicked, so don’t be surprised when the children of secular muslims discover the original texts and start butchering people.
Lots of families who escape the brutality of muslim countries have children who rediscover their muslim roots and join terror groups. Many converts are made in prison as well who go on to brutalize innocent people when they get out.

It is not hate IMO, it is ideology. Ideology is taught in schools, be they church or public schools. Look at the perpetually offended Generation Snowflake. They are what they have been taught to be. If you have “religious leaders” who stand in front of impressionable youth and teach that gays should be killed out of compassion, you will have some who act on their teachings.
Secularist liberals will never answer the question of where organic hate comes from because they are not students of the Bible. It is one of the sins afflicting mankind. Human beings are born with discerning minds, but when they chose to worship sin and sin’s creator, they will most certainly become demonically possessed. Then, killing and destroying God’s creation becomes their objective. It is as simple as that. The battle we need to ruthlessly wage against the premier haters of mankind on the planet today - Allah, Mohammed, and their followers - is just the latest in the age old, never ending war of good versus evil.
