Yale University has found itself embroiled in controversy once again this year after English students complained that courses in the department were 'hostile' to students of color.
Under the most fire is the Major English Poets course, a prerequisite for undergraduates in the major to study the works of at least seven major poets, all of whom are white men.
An anonymous petition has demanded the department not only change the English 125/126 course, which has existed since 1920, but abolish it entirely. It also asks that the major's pre-1800/1900 requirements be changed to include literature relating to 'gender, race and sexuality'.
'A year spent around a seminar table where the literary contributions of women, people of color and queer folk are absent actively harms all students, regardless of their identity,' it reads.

Sounds life a bunch of ignorant people demanding that they remain ignorant.
It occurs to me that it’s not about hostility toward colored people, rather it’s about hostility toward accomplished white men.
There were no Major English Poets between 1800-1900....

Thank God I am done with school.....my last degree was in 2000 at George Washington with an MBA. I couldn’t imagine the nonsense they are going through now. My poor son starts in the fall.....I’d hate to be him....lol. I have had talks about all the weird crap he will see in college. He is prepared. I told him about the pronouns....lol. That was a funny conversation.....he thought I was kidding until I showed him the article. He is a Trump guy and hopes Trump will change a lot of this junk....I reminded him that Trump will do a lot of good but he is not a King or dictator.
A lot of people want to go to Yale, but are not accepted by Yale. It’s very competitive.
So — why doesn’t Yale kick out any student who protests like this? Don’t need you: good-bye. And then accept a new student who would be happy to get a Yale education.
There is no good reason for 18-year-olds to be driving this bus.
It’s to the point now where Community Colleges have a greater number of emotionally stable, well-balanced students than Yale.
Unbelievable.
And on the Supreme Court and President.....hopefully I will be dead....lol.
Yale students should personally abolish the use of anything invented or developed by white people. They need to lead by example.
The poor kids just want some of the incredible literature that has come out of Africa for the past 400 years.
And who can blame them-—they would have lots of free time on their hands.

who the f### do these twits think they are trying to dictate what belongs in the study for an “English” major, when they aren’t even competent to understand some of the foremost poets of the English language?
I think perhaps they meant to be studying “womyn’s studies”
First find some Major English Poets who weren’t White males, and then get back to me.
Why don’t they expell these snowflakes??
