Donald Trump has dominated the news cycle for months, delivering record viewership and readership for TV and digital media companies, and according to a Vanity Fair report Thursday, the presumptive Republican nominee is thinking about trying to monetize that audience for himself.
“Trump is indeed considering creating his own media business, built on the audience that has supported him thus far in his bid to become the next president of the United States,” Sarah Ellison wrote in the piece. “According to several people briefed on the discussions, the presumptive Republican nominee is examining the opportunity presented by the ‘audience’ currently supporting him. He has also discussed the possibility of launching a ‘mini-media conglomerate’ outside of his existing TV-production business, Trump Productions LLC.” According to Ellison’s sources, the idea for a media company was born from Trump’s frustration surrounding “his ability to create revenue for other media organizations without being able to take a cut himself.” Trump has considered building out a media empire for years. According to the Vanity Fair report, in 2011 NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke and Trump, who was considering a run for president at the time, agreed that if Trump ran for president and won, he’d continue starring in his NBC reality series, “The Apprentice,” as commander-in-chief (never mind that as a broadcast network, such an agreement could run afoul of some FCC rules).
It isn't clear in the story what sort of media company Trump would start, although Ellison suggests it could be a cable channel (she also wrote that such a company could run afoul of FCC "Equal Time" rules, though unless it was a broadcast network such as NBC they would not apply). Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks initially told Vanity Fair that a media company of this nature “hasn’t been even uttered,” before clarifying:

He would run into trouble with a Trump Network.
Now, “The President wants you to know ...” that one has a precedent. FDR fireside chats fer instance. A “President wants you to know” network will pass muster.
Mr. Trump already has his foot in the door. Right Side Network Broadcasting had never surfaced to the degree it has reached with the coverage of Donald J. Trump. If the two were of like minds - which they seem to be, the partnership would be of great benefit in making AMERICA great, again.

He’s setting up a political dynasty for his family. 2 sons and a hot daughter for starters. Learn from Kennedy/Bush mistakes. He has to win first to get it started.
This is a solid idea, especially if Trump is elected president.
President Trump would be able to control his message, in a way no other president has been able to do.
At the same time, he could put NBC News, ABC News, CBS News and CNN out of business.
Scare’s the crap out of Politico, but that’s exactly what he should do.
Murdock is too much of a globalist shill to allow real American Nationalism on his network. He’s now essentially CBS-Lite, although Fox News at least did the world a favor by showing just how biased the MSM really was.

I don’t like President Trump on a personal level. He’ll steamroll me for a ham sandwich. He’ll steamroll you too. But I know him from business.
I know that running for president won’t profit him but slightly. It’s actually not worth his time to do any of this.
Finally, that is showing me that his intent is truly good for the country - to steamroll THEM and not US (Won’t that be refreshing)
He is building a legacy for his kids. It’s all on the line. Everything he has left is now being sacrificed for his kids.
And THAT totally upends everything I thought about him. Now I like him personally.

I would LOVE to go into Media. But start-up costs are insane.
Anything I could slap together would just be FreeRepublic clone.
But in my town we have a studio being built, a local has donated a ton of equipment and now anyone who wants to broadcast just needs licence.. or they can piggy-back on the local TV station who will help them get a message out there.

I was in public TV for about a decade but made the transition to IT with a few years in the contractor wilderness.
These days, I make a few bucks with producing stock footage, mostly as a hobby.
TV was a good job that paid little but I miss the technical aspects.
He already has a Trump News Network called Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
