I had a professor in college like that. A notorious Lefty, yet he had enough integrity to give me an “A” on a paper I wrote that disagreed with him, because it was well-researched and well-written.

I had several other Lefty professors who could never figure out how I scored an “A” from this guy.

Yeah. They did white privilege early in the semester. But I made sure to send my daughter some YouTube videos debunking that invidious claim.

We joke about “translaves” — black people who are born free but identify as being slaves to the white man.

I have a grandchild at Newton South and the summer reading books are skewed toward reaching the conclusion that there is white male privilege. Infuriating. .

The families of soldiers must be suffering as much as the rest of the population. How bad must society suffer before soldiers turn against officers and overthrow the government? Eastern Europe fell like a piece of rotten fruit, starting in Romania, once enough people found life intolerable. How long?

What really seals this article for me is the part at the end when the girl finds a baby sparrow and one of her friends suggests that they should eat it. Seriously, not jokingly, because they’re all starving. The innocent little bird in her hand, looking up at an equally innocent little girl and giving her the first smile she’s had in days as it tries feebly to fly...and all at least one of her friends can think about is popping it in a frying pan because he is just that hungry.

I try to imagine myself in a similar situation, finding a lost little cat by my fa mily’s home and showing it to everyone, and while I pet the little thing as it cowers in my arms one of my younger brothers wonders out loud if it would taste good because he’s that hungry. I love horror games and have an incredible imagination - and my brain simply cannot comprehend being in that situation, it literally shuts down when I try too hard to envision it.

Pretty damn long. The first thing they teach every soldier is to follow orders, immediately and without question, just because that’s how an army has to work. A lot of our soldiers’ families have suffered dearly under Obama. Maybe if every one of them had foreseen in 2008 just how badly, they’d have interrupted the swearing-in ceremony and packed him and his family off to Kenya and told the public “try again.”
