Nope. I wouldn’t have gone for it. When you destroy the laws of a system then you destroy the system. Destroy the laws a political system and you get warfare in the streets. Ted Cruz and is die hard supporters are very short term thinkers and their short term goals of winning at any cost will destroy everything even if they win.
I would expect fighting in the street between Cruz and Trump supporters if Cruz pulled off his illegal coup.
