I’ve posted this story before. I want to say it was around 2003 (give or take a year).
I was filling up our at the time, large SUV (a Ford Expedition—we had 5 TALL kids under 14) at a Sheetz gas station on Rt 22 just outside of Delmont, PA. We had come back from a soccer game for one of the two oldest. Siblings were hot, sweaty and cranky. Oldest two were dispatched, with cash, into the Sheetz store to get slushies for four (the youngest was a baby).
On the other side of my gas pump was a YUGE RV being gassed up by a very distinguished looking Af-Am man of about 50ish, who looked vaguely familiar. My kids erupted into world war three when oldest “layered” two flavors of slushie into his cup while making “single flavor” slushes for the others.
Hilarity ensued as the power windows went up and down w/protests of NOT FAIR! And I wanted BKUE SLUSHIES!!!My pumpmate w/the YUGE RV just laughed and laughed. (In an endearing “better you than me lady” kinda way).
I read years later that the Thomas’s RV. It had to be him.
My brush w/ JUSTICE!!!
Enjoyed your story!
