The more likely scenario is Ireland joining the UK commonwealth for the first time in more than 60 years. Not abandoning home rule, per se, but getting tighter with England.

But no way in heck is Scotland going to leave the UK completely and be an independent country.
It won’t last. Brothers and sisters are natural enemies. Like Englishmen and Scots! Or Welshmen and Scots! Or Japanese and Scots! Or Scots and other Scots! Damn Scots! They ruined Scotland!

Ireland will never join the UK/Commonwealth; in fact, the European Union is better designed for small countries like Ireland (who would be unable to compete globally alone) than the large countries like the UK. The UK was between two worlds (Europe and the empire/commonwealth/Anglosphere), and their refusal to adopt the Euro indicates they knew this time might come.
