The US has been warned about its high poverty rate in the International Monetary Fund's annual assessment of the economy.

The fund said about one in seven people were living in poverty and that it needed to be tackled urgently.

It recommended raising the minimum wage and offering paid maternity leave to women to encourage them to work.

The report also cut the country's growth forecast for 2016 to 2.2% from a previous prediction of 2.4%.

Slower global growth and weaker consumer spending were blamed.

Please send to Dr. Walter Williams at George Mason University. He’s been writing for years of the failure of the federal government’s so-called “poverty” programs. Just proves his case!!

These elitist buffoons get all their money from the US. We have already spent five trillion on the "war on poverty," yet we still have poverty. Matt. 26:11 "The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me."

Then we change the definition of poverty from the bottom 12% of the population to the bottom 5. Problem solved.

The trick is to stop paying able-bodied people to not work. Also, no more cash/ebt payments, you need food, you get food, clothing, etc.

Wait a minute. Who, exactly has been in charge? Who exactly has spent trillions in ‘stimulus’? Who has enacted ‘something something’ care? Who has given us extended unemployment benefits? Who is the undisputed champion of the poor and downtrodden? SOMETHING doesn’t add up.

obamanomics. we are now a third world country..still time to get it back but if these Hillary supporters don’t wake the f up we are finished.

a whole generation is being lost. workers who have degrees can’t get jobs and are forgotten about. according to govt statistics, they don’t exist..except on the food stamp payrolls. I know so many..I was one too
