I love Emmett Tyrrel's writing style.
But I'm not sure what "copper-bottomed" means.

However, I wish Mr. Tyrrell would lay into Chris Wallace. His interview of Trump last Sunday, where he challenged all of Trump's accusations of Her Hillaryness,including being ASLEEP, was dreadful.
She WAS asleep. Wallace was dead wrong.

Wooden boats and sailing ships had their hulls below the waterline sheathed in copper to stop infestations of wood eating sea worms. It also cut down on barnicles improving the speed. It was expensive and somewhat of a luxury.
