Two of the worst are Pep Boys and Walmart. They seem to hire complete morons who’ve never worked on a car in their lives.

Yep. The Firestone stores I dealt with in the distant past appeared to do the same, so no surprise in this article. Mediocre tires, terrible service, in my experience.

Went into local Firestone to get oil change - person behind
counter began reciting everything wrong with car - tuneup,
rotate tires, tighten bolts, etc

Was up to $1000 in under a minute

Told them just change the F****ng oil .......

Didnt go back

My boss swears by Firestone. They smile when they see him coming.

You’re right.

The alignment readings don’t lie, if it needs alignment it will show up, including on ‘solid’ rear axles which need shims.

Shims can be an expensive job.

Interesting that the CA AG chose to go for the headlines.

I believe that most “Firestone Service Centers” are affiliated franchises. It is unlikely that Bridgestone/Firestone owns or operates any of these stores.

Multiple liberal AGs have been trying to force franchise operations to own up for all mistakes of franchise operators (see the efforts against McDonalds).

While there may be actual problems with any individual repair center, to hold Bridgestone/Firestone personally responsible for it is strictly grandstanding and a money/PR grab.

Yeah, I think you’re right that the parent company has nothing at all to do with this kind of garage. Like I said earlier, it only takes an unscrupulous, greedy mgr and the whole place can go into ripoff mode. but it’s certainly not sanctioned by Bridgestone/Firestone. The independent franchisees are responsible.
