I’ve been thinking about that as well. It must be excruciating for him. Because if he follows the law, he is in for the wrath and rage of the left- it would be simply unrelenting. It would require stamina and guts. All in the middle of a presidential campaign.

Even in this day and age that would depend to a degree on the seriousness of the charges and the strength of the supporting evidence. If it’s clear that Hillary is a lost cause, the Dems will very quickly announce that their nominee will be a Not-Clinton, to be decided at the convention.
At that point the MSM would find it lonely and counterproductive to defend an acknowledged criminal. Rather, they’d go with blistering attacks on Trump offset by pom-pom cheerleader stories on Warren, Biden, etc.
