General forced out by Obama is on Trump’s VP short list
New York Post ^ | July 5, 2016 | Daniel Halper

WASHINGTON — A top military adviser to Donald Trump is being vetted to be his running mate, The Post has learned.

The outspoken and brash Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn — who was forced out of his post by the Obama administration in 2014 after pointing out the rising global jihadist threat — has already briefed the Republican presidential candidate on several occasions and is in close touch with high levels of Trump’s staff...

Although Flynn, the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, made a name for himself speaking out against his former boss, he is not treating his potential future boss the same way.

“One of the things I expect Mr. Trump would look for in a vice president is discretion,” Flynn told The Post, coyly declining to comment on being vetted by Trump.

“All I would say is that I have been honored to serve my country for the past three decades and look forward to serving in other ways now that I am retired from the US Army,” he said. “I’ve been a soldier too long to refuse to entertain any request from a potential commander in chief...”

I say do it just to piss off the liberals, if for no other reason.

LOl, that “short” list gets longer every day. Tomorrow there’ll be another ‘short list” of 50 people from Sarah palin to elvis presley.

A counter to Clinton's "National Security Experience and Expertise".

Natural fit if he can be a Political Attack Dog.

[The only “list” Trump has are those he is going to have the media chasing their tails after. Trump is a master of 3D chess, slight of hand, whatever you want to call it. No one in the media knows who’s in his list.

I think we will all be in for a pleasant surprise at his choice.

Intriguing possibility. This guy fills the criteria of being able to deal with the press and of having the managerial skill and expertise to keep the DC crowd in line.

What a concept...someone whose resume qualifies him to be Commander and Chief. Has that happened, with either a presidential or VP choice, since Ike?

I was in a supermarket in Maine earlier today, and I saw that article about Lt. General Flynn in “The New York Post.”

I think Flynn would be a great choice.

If he were chosen, this man needs to be ready for Libs who will accuse him of war crimes. They may look for the relatitves of some Middle-Easterner who was killed during an operation this officer had authority over. What they can’t do with logic, they will try to do with touchy-feely innuendo.
There are too many mushy type people these days who fall for the emotional angle every time.

not gonna happen

Trump is an outsider but to get anything done, he needs a seasoned politician who can handle the obstructionists in Congress and move Trump’s agenda- like Bush had Cheney

someone like Gingrich or maybe a respected governor who has experience dealing with idiots on both sides of the aisle

Question: Could that need be filled by having DC political vets in his CoS, cabinet, or kitchen cabinet? Does the political influence have to be in the form of VP?

I think anyone military is a bad option for Trump. He need an experienced politician or diplomat.

I think independents and many others are too leary of getting into another long, drawn out war. Hillary will exploit that.

Trump needs someone who will give people confidence that he won’t do anything stupid to blow up all of our wonderful (/s) foreign relations and start a trade war and kill the economy even more.
