FBI Rewrites Federal Law to Let Hillary Off the Hook
National Review ^ | July 5, 2016 | Andrew McCarthy

... Comey even conceded that former Secretary Clinton was “extremely careless” and strongly suggested that her recklessness very likely led to communications (her own and those she corresponded with) being intercepted by foreign intelligence services. Yet, Director Comey recommended against prosecution of the law violations he clearly found on the ground that there was no intent to harm the United States.

In essence, in order to give Mrs. Clinton a pass, the FBI rewrote the statute, inserting an intent element that Congress did not require. The added intent element, moreover, makes no sense: The point of having a statute that criminalizes gross negligence is to underscore that government officials have a special obligation to safeguard national defense secrets; when they fail to carry out that obligation due to gross negligence, they are guilty of serious wrongdoing. The lack of intent to harm our country is irrelevant. People never intend the bad things that happen due to gross negligence....

....

...It seems to me that this is what the FBI has done today. It has told the public that because Mrs. Clinton did not have intent to harm the United States we should not prosecute her on a felony that does not require proof of intent to harm the United States. Meanwhile, although there may have been profound harm to national security caused by her grossly negligent mishandling of classified information, we’ve decided she shouldn’t be prosecuted for grossly negligent mishandling of classified information.

On the brightside, if there is one, James Comey exposed the corruption that is DC for the entire world to see. It is up to us to run with it.

She was not extremely careless about her taxes; she was not extremely careless about traffic laws. She was extremely careless about National Security!

That is exactly the last place we need to have leniency. Instead, this would have been the most important time to set an example that no one is above the law.

Yes, this was PRECISELY the case where FBI and DOJ should be proving that “no one is above the law.”

Instead, they have made blatant the double-standards that exist for prominent DemocRATs.

I was ready to pack it in yesterday. I am 62 and grieving because nothing will change for the better in my lifetime..I have better things to do.

Then I remembered the fundamental truths spelled out in both the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. And my grandchildren.

We will lose more battles than we win in the short term, but we must win the war.

We (conservatives) are the radicals now. The radicals of the 60’s fought a long war to reach the point were we are today. Even though we are fighting both sides of the aisle & have more opponents, we have to accept we are in it for the long term and never give up.

Actually a Virginian, living in and loving Georgia, but always a Virginian. I grew up on the same land which witnessed so much of our history. I still remember my 4th grade Virginia History book. The seed was planted. Patrick Henry and James Madison are my beacons.

How can an FBI Director make a law? I keep hearing folks on TV say that but I thought only Congress makes laws. Confusing to me.
