Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable.
As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trump’s running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this week’s shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota.
Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrich’s comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote:
“It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you don’t understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.”

A lot of your statement I agree with. Fifty years ago, those with avg IQ and motivation could simply go to work in one of the many manufacturing jobs, do his 40 hours a week and live a pretty decent life. Now, not only are those jobs being globalized, but the fact of the matter is a lot of those jobs are automated. We are pumping out as much if not more steel in this country than we were 50 years ago. The difference, not as many workers needed due to automation and advancement in techniques.

I have a friend who has a master’s in theology, works as a professor and pastor, wears a suit to work, nice clothes when not at the office, drives a modest car, doesn’t party or anything else. Has been pulled over twice this year for no real reason and had his car searched both times.
Never received a ticket, never received a warning. Once they had searched his car, they just sent him on his way. It’s called “driving while black” and it is a reality that even the most law-abiding, hard working, decent acting black people have to deal with.
And it is patently unfair if you believe in individual rights”
We don’t need “gun control” (revoke the Bill of Rights). We need criminal control...punishment that discourages bad behavior.
Alas, noone in .gov wants to solve the problem.

Such comments suggest a standing bias against most blacks. I honestly don't know how most blacks view their own skin color with respect to mine. I have heard this before:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
The percentages are not the same, but the difference is easy to explain: a higher percentage of blacks are criminals / thugs who do not comply with police orders.
Newt G and McCain share similar political behavior to a drunk.....can be counted on to weave left and right consistently. Like a flag blowing when the wind changes.
When young, the Dem’s were hardcore leftists and the Repubs were combating them. Now, the Dem’s are Socialist Fascists and the Repubs are useless eaters who have no spines.
Well actually I was wrong. In 2015 50% of the people shot by cops were white. 26% were black. White lives don’t matter.
I am sure there will be a good position for Newt somewhere. Agreed not Veep.
Newt is a self-absorbed fraud, always has been. I may have told this story out here in the past, so I’ll give the condensed version: I confronted Newt at a private meeting of republicans in the mid-90s & suggested he start addressing cultural issues: abortion, immigration & Affirmative Action like he promised the base that he would.
He took offence to this, and suggested it would be addressed. I retorted that there had been zero movement on these issue. He got red in the face & told me to go F myself. I told him the same.....and said to the rest of the people at the meeting that this shows that nothing is going to chance in D.C.
Guess what happened next: the fat-load charged at me & tried to spit in my face. He missed, and he was lucky several people jumped between us. He’s a psychological mess.
AS a white and an ex-police officer I understand what Gingrich is saying to a certain extent. But I truly wonder if blacks understand themselves.
First any black that does not think like the Black so called leadership in America speak and say is branded by their own people,or other blacks.
Next. Just look at Chicago the folks in all those neighborhoods are afraid to take a stand and you never hear any of Chicago’s Black leaders take a stand against it either.
How many times after a black is killed does the Black Community and Press condemn the Police before the full case is examined?
The shooting in New Orleans looks bad but I want to see it investigated. From the one I have seen in Minnesota I also want it to be fully investigated. Once you have a Concealed Carry Permit you are trained to the best of my knowledge when confronted by a policeman to keep your hands where they can see them,tell them you are armed and have a permit and follow their instructions. We know already in today’s world that folks do not follow instructions from the time they are born until death and it is a fact. Watch the news at altercations,watch children in school when they are instructed by their teachers,then watch the parents go take up for them. Just who is fooling whom in today’s society. I say America is going to get the type policing she ask for and when it happens we will not like it and many more will die unreasonably.
By the way I will sign a release for anyone to look at my 30 year record of policing. I had a few complaints and with one exception they were all unfounded and the one that was true I would not do again today if the person handle me the same way but that is because of hindsight?
I had a lot of dealing with the Black Community and to my knowledge never received a complaint about anything racial or the way I handled them. Sure I had some who disagreed with a charge and I always explained to them how they could handle it.I have no doubts I had a good reputation in all communities,one of being tough but fair and I never had to beat or shoot anyone.
I will make of a lot of folks mad with this statement but in my opinion in my dealings there was more resentment and flack in the black community in my dealings than I ever ran into in any other community when the situation concerned a predominate race in where there were numbers of them present. Numbers to to give some folks the thought of invincibility and the ability to hide their actions like bullies.
You can bet you will not hear about your situation on the big networks. Please look up the facts about Black on White Crime. White America will have to fight for her life if we let them undermine the police.
I think if you check you will find that Hispanics are listed as white in a lot of cases where the government is concerned. Please check I may be wrong.

You may not like it but Newt is actually correct.....that does not mean that things are awful. In fat things have gotten much better.
Biggest bit of discrimination comes from the left....that message needs to be gotten out there
and it is an important effort
this is the way to get folks to pay attention to the real issues

Your assumption that he is coming up to gems or BLM is so far off base as to be ridiculous. it is equivalent to calling Trump racist or anti-semitic
I've maintained all along that Trump will pick someone whose name isn't in the mix...but someone we'll be delighted with.
Newt has been plastered all over the tube lately which to me is a clue that he's a designated spokesman and a purposeful red herring for the Trump campaign....and that the real veep candidate is lying in the weeds for dramatic effect just prior to the convention.
The closer to the convention the better as it doesn't give the enemedia an extended opportunity to do the non-stop down-and-dirty on the VP nominee before opening night.
My contention is that, in his mind, Trump has known for a long time who his pick will be. I also put forth that it'll be someone we will be excited about...and proud of!

I wish the Newt cheerleaders could read what you just posted and derive some crucial take-aways from it. For Trump to give Newt a good position in his administration would be fine. For Trump to select Newt as VP would be a disaster.
