I told my wofe in no uncertain terms that I WILL NOT be having any such “talk” with our black son, just as my father never had any such talk with me, nor his father with him. Instead I will “talk” to him 24/7/365 about how to be a person of high moral character, with integrity and honesty, who is respectful of all kinds of authority figures in his life, beginning with me, and his mother, and every other adult with whom he comes into contact. THAT message has allowed me 46 years of life in America with zero negative interactions with police officers, and I’m absolutely certain that barring extraordinary bad luck, it will work just the same for him.
