I would say, what’s the hurry, but with an unusual candidate like Trump, the donors need someone they can easily connect with. Once that bond is established, donor money may follow.

As Trump’s Chief of Staff, probably the most influential position in the administration, Newt could assist Pence expediting legislation and arm-twisting, etc. Newt knows “where the bodies are buried” and can be brutal when necessary.
