Decatur has gentrified significantly in the last decade or so. Downtown Decatur, where this is happening, is home to a lot of cool upscale restaurants and pubs. This will at minimum kill their business for Friday night.
I’m sure one of the reasons Decatur was picked was because of the MARTA train stop, just as last night’s protest started at the Lenox MARTA station, and then turned into a march to the governors mansion a few miles away.
Which is further confirmation why the citizens of Gwinnett County made the right decision in not allowing expansion of MARTA rail service to the county...
