Among the many people in attendance at the parade in Paris, which took place under high surveillance this year, was the French president, who rode atop the command car flanked by Republican Guards on horseback.
Hollande was joined by US State Secretary John Kerry, New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key and Mexico's president Enrique Pena Nieto.
Speaking after the parade, Hollande said: 'We had to prolong the state of emergency until we could be sure that the law gives us the means to counter the terrorist threat effectively.'
He added that the new law 'will give us the tools which, while not comparable with the state of emergency, give us the means to keep tabs on certain individuals administratively.'
'We can't prolong the state of emergency forever. That would make no sense, it would mean that we were no longer a republic with laws which can apply in all circumstances.' He also acknowledged that the threat 'remains there.'
Hollande declared the state of emergency on the evening of the November 13 attacks, which killed 130 people. It was prolonged three times by parliament, notably to include the Euro-2016 football tournament and the Tour de France cycle race.

Bad timing for the announcement that you’re lifting the state of emergency because you have all these cool tools to get in front of attacks now.

Is this the same socialist Hollande who spends 11,000 bucks a month on a hairdresser for his thinning pate?

Yeah, well, to say the least. Probably has some significance in that the laws have been changed to allow what previously could be done only under declaration of emergency. Yesterday's emergency steps is today's normal.

Looks like the French forgot to ban lorries. Of course when trucks are criminalized, only criminals will have trucks. Good move France; capitulate to Germany/EU rule and let more Muslims into your territory.
I guess Germany won the War after all and is now sowing the seeds of your utter destruction.

French President Hollande: less effective than a talking dog, but at least he’s not openly on the side of terrorists.

Is this the same socialist Hollande who spends 11,000 bucks a month on a hairdresser for his thinning pate? It's always easy to spend other peoples' money.
But in fairness, John Kerry was his guest at the parade and one must groom oneself to Kerry hair standards.
