Disappointed it’s not Newt, but I suppose Newt can still do a lot of good in another position.

I’m betting that Newt and Trump talked about different positions. Trump probably asked Newt what he would like. I’m betting Newt said VP was 2nd and he didn’t want to play the media games but nailing Congress...
Maybe Newt can be the hound dog that goes on news talk shows and slams Clinton. Just sayin.
I have no problems with Pence. Legislative and executive experience both. I would have been fine with any of a couple dozen possibilities. All of them had some kind of weakness(es). All had some kind of strength(s).
I wanted the candidate in that group most likely to help gain victory. Win is most important.

Trump did say Newt will be in his administration. I think we will be pleasantly surprised as to where.
