"Statement which urged all parties to 'respect the democratically elected government of Turkey' opposed by Egypt, which officials say argued that UNSC not in position to determine whether a government had been democratically elected"

The United Nations Security Council failed on Saturday to condemn the violence and unrest in Turkey after Egypt objected to a statement that called on all parties to "respect the democratically elected government of Turkey," diplomats said.

The U.S.-drafted statement also expressed grave concern over the situation in Turkey, urged the parties to show restraint, avoid any violence or bloodshed, and called for an urgent end to the crisis and return to rule of law.

Egypt leader rocks!!!

Can’t believe the top of my list right now is an Egyptian and russian leader, even though the second one is a snake in the grass.

This coup would have been CRUSHING!!

Between the Kurds, Iraq advancing, Russia bombing and now Turkey not a safe haven, that would have been it.

Wow. That’s remarkable.

I guess Egypt really is trying to steer clear of the precipice.

They’re still trying to figure out how Erdogan got elected. Probably the same way Obama got elected. Erdogan was waaaaaaaaaaaay behind just before the election.

That just might sting a little if Rice and Obama are awake enough to notice.

Whether this was a genuine coup or not rather than an Erdogan play to consolidate power to create his dream Caliphate, Egypt should be given a nice round of applause by giving a message to the imbecile in the WH.

Yeah like a UN Security Council Condemnation meant a flying fart in hell, anyway.

It’s a wonderful example to set. You CAN tell these fools to go to hell, even in small, symbolic ways!

Bravo, Egypt

Turkey coup attempt was a July 20th 1944 Rastenburg attempt all over again . I really regret the fact that like the German Rastenburg coup makers , the Turkish Army failed to nail the main problem / leader in the first shots . Now , like Hitler , we will see Adolf Erdogan go Islamo-Nazi crazy on Turkey . Maybe Mr. Putin would like to take a shot ?

Putin would like nothing better than to see NATO dissolved.

I just posted a comment on another thread about Egypt, how Obama stuck up for his “democratically elected” buddie Morsi.
