Well, that goes for the content of most political speeches, too.
By now you may have seen the day's leading headline -- the one that posits Melania Trump's speech Monday evening at the Republican National Convention was "plagiarized" from a speech made in August 2008 by Michelle Obama at the Democratic National Convention.
To begin, some of the most bias headlines lead one to believe that Mrs. Trump plagiarized her entire speech. This is false.
The truth, rather, is that two portions of Mrs. Trump's speech are being called into question for their striking similarities to Mrs. Obama's speech eight years prior.
The similar portions were made early on in Mrs. Trump's speech and concern the values instilled in her by her parents as a young child growing up in Slovenia. Below are the two women's speech excerpts for comparison:

Melania Trump (July 2016): “My parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise;
Michelle Obama (August 2008): “And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do;

97% of it wasn’t “plagiarized”. There are only 30 seconds of 17 minutes in question. What about them??
I wonder how often these witty “original sayings” are used in speech making?

In the past I served as a judge for poetry submissions to a competition sponsored by a national organization of which I am a member. I always read through the poem to see if I recognize it, then Googled the first line. Surprising the number of submissions we received from long dead poets writing under modern aliases. ;) Seventeenth century poems were the most frequently submitted. I guess they thought those would be least likely discovered. BTW the submissions were from Jr/sr high school and college.
Clearly it is incorrect to say “Melania plagiarized Moochelle’s speech.”
Melania had no clue that the speech she was reading on the teleprompter had sentences from a moochelle speech. She’s 100% innocent.
I’m wondering if there is a “worm” in the Trump campaign from the Clinton machine who wormed his way into the speech-writing realm. It had to be an INTENTIONAL SABOTAGE of Melania by this speechwriter.
After all, what conservative speechwriter would knowingly plagiarize a few sentences in Michelle Obama’s speech?? That’s just too stupid for any true speech writer to do.
Something is fishy here. And Trump should fire that S.O.B. speechwriter immediately.

These speech writers - left and right - all plagiarize. In the end it doesn’t matter and it won’t stick to Trump.
No one can argue that Trump copies anyone. Trump is his own original personna — warts and all — and there’s no one like him. Same with Melania. She is unusual and gifted and not your typical politician’s wife. She didn’t write those words that were copied. Some professional speech writer did that and may have gotten them from the same place Michelle Obama’s speech writer got them from.
On the other Hillary is the typical manufactured politician everyone is tired of. So none of this will stick to Trump. Much ado about nothing.
This morning CNN had their round-table comprised of liberals and Cruzbots. Of course the Cruzbots said this proves Trump is a lightweight and Ted Cruz would never make these kinds of problems.

Everyone copies everyone. If you copy enough people, you’re erudite and eclectic. If you only copy one, you’re “plagiarizing”. Who really gives a flying f@#$%? It was a speech, not a novel or a dissertation.
