“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

When I first became a FReeper, often someone would post a thing by Davy Crockett wherein he speaks of a constituent who ripped him a new one for following the temptation to give money out of the government purse for needy and needful people.
I have not seen that in a while, and i don’t have an active link to it. However, if someone is able to post it here, it would be highly appropriate! The reasoning is impeccable.

May they all burn in hell.

lib·er·al (lĭb′ər-əl, lĭb′rəl) adj. Favoring reform, open to new ideas, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; not bound by traditional thinking; broad-minded. '... tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others... (!) 'not bound by traditional thinking; broad-minded. (?) The word 'liberal' has now been re-defined : INTOLERANT of ideas and behavior of others, not bound by ANY kind of thinking, and an antonym of 'broad minded.'

Say it again
That kind of liberalism was bad enough, but the disease has of late developed new and far more vicious strains. Those involve attacks on Americans for not holding the right beliefs.
In Americas brave new world, the law is more and more used as a weapon against people who challenge the governmental leviathan and even against individuals who quietly dissent from progressive orthodoxy and merely want to be left alone.
