De Blasio Suspends School Sanity
City Journal ^ | July 25, 2016 | By Bob McManus

How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is to have a thankless union boss. Mayor Bill de Blasio probably would agree, after United Federation of Teachers honcho Mike Mulgrew brutalized the administration’s latest effort to replace sound classroom practices with race-baiting political correctness. Last week, de Blasio declared an outright ban on classroom suspensions in kindergarten through second grade.

Mulgrew might have been more supportive of de Blasio’s plan to punt on classroom discipline. After all, didn’t the mayor gift the UFT a $9-billion-plus contract settlement right after he took office? But that would miss the whole point of unions: they exist to serve their members’ narrow interests. . .

. . .According to the state education department’s School Violence Index, the number of violent incidents in city schools increased dramatically during de Blasio’s first year in office, from 12,978 in 2013–14 to 15,934 in 2014–15. At the same time, the index itself—the ratio of violent incidents to total school enrollment—jumped by 22 percent, the steepest increase on record. According to the reform group Families for Excellent Schools, “[t]here were more than twice as many ‘assaults with physical injuries’ reported by city schools to the State Education Department [during the 2014–15 school year] than the total number of crimes” publicly acknowledged by the de Blasio administration. Meanwhile, the NYPD reports a 26 percent increase in the number of lethal weapons confiscated by school safety personnel through May 8 of the just-concluded academic year, compared with 2014–15. So it would seem that a dangerous trend continues. . .

I pity the students who actually want to learn.

Not only do they have to deal with constant disruptions all day long, but then the get set upon by the thug element on their way home from school.

I do not understand why the schools are run by the cities in so many places. This seems to create a situation whereby the mayor is over all of the schools. I have been lucky enough to live in cities with school districts that are separate from the city government, with elected school boards. ??

It is intentional. The children that are in nice, decent homes that don’t expose children to vile, vulgar, evil worldview will be easily corrupted by the evil (traumatized) peers who will affect their behaviors and beliefs about the World. The State will be able to embed “Fear of Man” and not God and create irrational (unnatural) conformity by age 8 and destroy their “normal” moral progression and ability for critical thinking since lies and misinformation and hate (grouping) will be embedded into their subconscious along with “tolerance” for evil.

The system of “skooling” which is totally unconstitutional and dehumanizing and brainwashing is only for destruction of virtue formation in our children. The humanist, communist John Dewey’s mentor was educated inside Germany with the Fichte/Wundt worldview where Free Will (choice) has to be destroyed in little children so they believe in the most vile, irrational junk, like snow is black and boys are girls. Total removal from Reality—the Natural World for irrational, artificial institutions so normal instincts can be OBLITERATED.

With the Natural Family when children NEVER stepped into schools prior to age 8, they were READY for COLLEGE by age 13 (because they were not embedding dependency and stupidity in curricula), children could NOT BE as EASILY WARPED and CORRUPTED with TOTAL destruction (emasculation) of Self-Reliance. Fathers would have KILLED the perverts who would try to normalize “Pride” (a mortal sin) in anal sex, the Ancient pagan Ba’al Rites. (Promoting a RELIGION using our public schools!!!!) Schools are supposed to teach TRUTH only—the Laws of Nature and nature’s God-—in all state constitutions and local control of all curricula and “teachers’. No bureaucracy-—go back to just the Bible as a school book, when children’s comprehensive and literary skills were through the roof and Common Sense was too great to fall for the Dewey wet dream of making the State into mommy and daddy to destroy virtue formation in children or the “tax income” scheme or for private bankers creating money out of thin air. Too many DUMB, IMMORAL SHEEPLE are coming out of UNIVERSITIES today. We PAY thousands to destroy our children.....jokes on the stupid parents....

The teachers should be reporting the parents, for whatever they can, if the child is really unmanageable. They do have “mandatory reporting”.

Truth be known...the teachers fear the worst of the worst parents -arguably they should.

My girlfriend works in special Ed, really troubled kids. She’s trained in restraining kids and I’ve seen her come home with black and blues all over. She has full on grappled with kids infront of the police -not event lent a hand. => this is elementary school!

People have no idea how bad it is.

I've been covered in bruises all over after a tour of duty in certain very out of control ghetto high schools in the NYC system. Said bruises were caused by me being pushed, shoved, hit with stuff, etc. I'm lucky to still have 2 intact eyes, after having "students" attempt to poke meter sticks in my face, etc.

Good luck in trying to get hold of parent(s) of a student. It's very infrequent that you can get a valid telephone number. Frequently you hear "Do-do-DO; this number has been disconnected". And who answers the phone when anyone does pick up? Very often it's a sibling, a grandmother or an aunt. Not a parent. So you recite your litany of "Lucifer did this and then they did that" and hope that your message will be passed along to someone with some authority or influence over the student. And you don't hold your breath. In some cases, a truly crazoid "parent" will call your supervisor and complain about your phone call, usually embellishing it so that simply trying to do a constructive thing and inform a parent about a student's non-productive behavior suddenly becomes a racist phone call, or you are accused of referring to the student as retarded or stupid, etc. No wonder teachers don't want much in the way of contact with the parents of their students.

Mandatory reporting is the passing along, to the proper authorities, of a teacher's suspicion that the student has been abused. It is not for passing along that the student is the abuser.

It was not like that before Bloomturd was mayor and had his non-education background schools chancellor Klein rewrite the definition of “corporeal punishment” to include “verbal abuse”. In other words, if you yell at a student, you are now guilty of verbal abuse and can be brought up on charges. It was during Bloomturd also that students were handed authority over their teachers, to the point where they would say “F___ you! I’m a gonna get you fired!” And with falsified statements written by students out to get some revenge on a teacher who disciplined them in the classroom or gave them honest (failing) grades, it could actually happen.
