Stephen F. Cohen, professor emeritus of Russian studies at NYU and Princeton, spoke with CNN's 'Smerconish' Saturday morning about Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and the 'New Cold War.'
Cohen says the media at large is doing a huge disservice to the American people by ignoring the substance of Trump's arguments about NATO and Russia, and buying the Clinton campaign's simplistic smear that Trump is a Russian "Manchurian candidate."
"That reckless branding of Trump as a Russian agent, most of it is coming from the Clinton campaign," Cohen said. "And they really need to stop."

Cohen is a Russian/Soviet apologist, but he has good points about how stupidly childish Obama has been in his dealings with the Russians.
I always enjoy his rants on the John Batchelor show.
For Trump Russia is another path to prosperity and not just prosperity for the military industrial complex.
As you say, Cohen is an old-line USSR apologist. I think he is defending Russia more than He’s defending Trump, but it’s really surprising to see somebody like him calling out Hillary, and it really backfired on CNN, who assumed he would trash Trump. Wonder what his commie wife thinks?

It should scare everyone here how much Clinton and the Neo-Cons want a war with Russia. You can’t win a war against a nuclear power.
The Ukraine made an excellent buffer state between Russia and NATO, moving into the western camp makes war much more likely.
The Russians have never forgiven Clinton for Kosovo.

Given his long and well-known history of supporting the USSR, and given his marriage to Katrina vanden Heuvel, editrix and publisher of the extreme leftist “Nation” magazine, it wouldn’t surprise me a bit to learn Cohen was on the KGB and/or FSB payroll.
