“This is all about tying Trump up in court challenges if he orders them deported.”
I would agree and disagree.
Hopefully, if we retain the house and the senate that will help.
Plus Trump will be appointing the next Secretary of Homeland Security who will work to reverse all the damaging edicts while simultaneously return to enforcing the laws and regulations and taking away funding for sanctuary cities until they become compliant with the law — Appoint one or two (maybe three) conservatives to the supreme court because it will have to be settled by the supreme court (6-3)...It becomes a smaller hill to take IMO.
If Trump can get a SCOTUS majority then perhaps he can deport them after the case has wound it’s way through all of the appeals courts. By then no doubt a large number will have disappeared into the woodwork.
Then the issue will become what to do if Syria won’t take them back. We are signatories to several treaties on stateless persons. We’ve committed not to make people stateless. Several ex-Nazis who had their citizenship revoked nonetheless died in their own beds here because no other country could be found that would take them.
