Sadly there are always the post accident articles written with good intentions but just plain wrong.
An example is the one written by a coroner that stated that “no one survived the explosion long enough to fall into the water alive.” Comforting to loved ones but hogwash. He also stated “when the aircraft broke apart at 13,700’ the air pressure and the decompression would have killed most of the people who survived the shrapnel.” Again, hogwash. If the airplane was at 31,700’, yes that would have been a rapid depressurization but not at the relatively lower altitude. I do hope that those who can, continue and find the truth about this “accident!”
