Donald Trump is suggesting that if Hillary Clinton gets to pick federal judges as president, there is nothing that can be done to protect the right to bear arms.
But then he adds without elaboration that maybe supporters of the Second Amendment could figure out a way.

Sure you can. If there's an actual fire, you have a positive obligation to do so. If there's no actual fire, you face consequences for your abuse of your right to speak freely.

Can't??? I'll admit it would be very difficult, but the Second Amendment certainly protects your right to own a nuclear weapon if you choose to do so, and can avoid recklessly endangering your neighbors in the process.

You have a good point. He will get free TV from this.
Just making observations. You are right that there are lots of voters locked in on both sides and statements like this will not affect them. However clumsy statements like this will reduce Trump’s ability to secure independent votes in key battleground states.
Trump has a great opportunity here. As you say Trump is Trump. He doesn’t listen to advisors or anybody so the election is all in his hands ... and mouth.
Clayton Williams was very explicit about why we have the 2nd Amendment when he ran for governor of Texas.
And if forces Hillary to double down on her leftists positions.
Any other Republican candidate, and she runs to the Center comfortably and takes the middle-of-the-roaders. Force her to stay closer to Bernie Sanders ideologically and eventually that will catch up with her.
Soon, we’ll have a Second-Guessing Amendment. However, there will be no assurance that the quality of such second guessing will be held to a better-than-adequate standard.
