Now let me see. I have publicly supported Trump, and I certainly intend to continue to do so. If this gobbling Turkey wants to debate the question he raises, he will be very much in over his head.

First of all, there was no suggestion of an assassination. The dry comment of Donald Trump was one that went to whether there was a way to defend our Constitutional rights, if Mrs. Clinton packed the Courts with Judges who would usurp the Constitutional guarantees.

The suggestion--admittedly in a dry humorous vein--was one which every one of the Founding Fathers, who ever opined on the importance of the 2nd Amendment, would have gladly adhered to. Washington, Jefferson, and most of their associates, as did the Justices of the Supreme Court appointed later, all understood that one of the functions of the Amendment was to enable the free people to protect their Constitutional liberty, even where the threat came from within the Government.

I would suggest that Rather review some of the statements. He would find them very much stronger than Donald Trump's dry comment. Or who will say otherwise?

That dry comment was the height of moderation. Washington, Jefferson, Madison or Hamilton--of Mr. Justice Story--would have been a lot more blunt.
