I don’t put my hand over my heart, although I did when I was a child. I stand with my hands at my side. I was taught that it was acceptable for a lady to not touch her bosom.

A civilian woman saluting the flag places her hand above her breast, not on it. Pardon my indulging one of my all time favorite topics. It isn’t flag etiquette.
