She wasn’t being disrespectful. I used to go to 10-12 NCAA sports events a week for almost 20 years. You all would have fits watching all the disrespectful stuff going on.

There are real problems in the world. This isn’t one of them.

I agree with you. If I’m at an event where the anthem is bring played, I stand and face the flag. I don’t cover my heart with my hand. And I’m practically a goose stepping superpatriot nationalist son of a b*tch.

Grandson participates in track and field events for AAU and Junior Olympics. All of the meets in Texas begin with a prayer, pledge to the flag and playing of the Star Spangled Banner. Coach also says a prayer before they start their weekly practice. Have yet to see any of the athletes at our Texas AAU meets not bow their heads for the prayer, say the pledge with hand over their heart and sing the SSB. Most of the kiddos are Black and parents have not only trained them well but insist on appropriate behavior.

We did go to a meet in Louisiana two years ago. Good grief - what a difference. Kids running everywhere, no prayer or pledge, lots of older female contestants running around with a baby on their hip or a toddler in tow.

Ever look at the pro players during the anthem? Behavior is totally inappropriate for most.

The fact that it isn’t, says a lot about why we have the problems we do have.

Starting with lack of respect.

I agree, she is not disrespecting anything, she is standing dignified facing the flag.

It is not compulsory to put the hand over the heart, c’mon people there’s a difference between being a conservative and a fascist.

You are a super patriot who puts his hand over his puffed out chest while no doubt singing, word perfect, every verse of the Star-Spangled Banner? Good for you, that’s nice.

Other people might feel that a quiet, dignified stance, eyes forward, hands clasped, is sufficient. If the US means anything then it means that people are free to express their respect for their flag and country in ways that are comfortable for them without being hounded by the thought police and being scanned by patriotometers.

Come on, lighten up.
