Read somewhere that it’s on course to lose $70 million.
I suspect most of the positive reviews were from militant feminist men and women. I read earlier today that the poor box office has squelched a sequel.
Nothing good comes from homowood.
I for one enjoyed it. Guess I’m dumb.
Star Trek was good. Not great, but fun.
I’ll see a movie where they make a man the hero and paint him in a good light. I will not see movies where only the women are the heroes. I guess it will be a while.
The only good thing to come out of this remake was the return of Ecto Cooler!!
It was a terrible film. Practically dragged to it by my daughter. Made the original look like a cinematic masterpiece.
I didn’t hate it, but really didn’t think it was too heavy-handed on either PC or feminist issues. I didn’t go in there rooting against it, but felt it was unnecessary to remake it. The original was, well, original! It was creative and funny. When I saw it, I felt I was seeing something special, like I’d never seen before.
This remake, I found unfunny. Admittedly, I’m not a cheap laugh, but I can usually find something in a comedy that I think is clever or makes me smile a little. Sometimes a chuckle will leak out.
This pretty much left me flat-lined...
Dud.
..... I luv to laugh just like anybody else .... But when I saw the promos .... It looked like total garbage with nothing funny at all to laugh at. And considering most promos load the best stuff in them to draw an audience and pique interest .... I knew this thing wasn't going anywhere.
..... Still debating if I would even stream the crap on Netflix when it comes out. Probably just wait for it to show up as a crappy in-flight venue.
The new Star Trek tv show already ruined by the gay producer.

Were absolutely having a gay character, Fuller said, recalling how, during his time on the Deep Space Nine writing staff, fans sent hate mail protesting a rumor that Jeri Ryans character Seven of Nine was going to be gay. He added that he kept a file folder of the vitriolic mail in his garage, solely to remind him of the importance of including gay characters if he ever got his own Trek series.
Fuller made light of the series acronym STD and said that sex and profanity likely will have a place on the show. There will probably be slightly more graphic content, Fuller said. We discuss every day about language Is it appropriate to have a bridge blow up and have somebody say, Oh, st?’
One of the first blatant times I noticed it, was the movie Wild Wild West, with Will Smith replacing Robert Conrad
Here was a period piece from the term of President Ulysse S. Grant. (1869 - 1877)
In it James West plays a vital Secret Service agent addressing special assignments on behalf of the President. And no, one of those vital assignments wasn't countering racism in the South. None the less, that's what was covered in part in the Will Smith version. They couldn't be content to merely present a clever plot with a bit of humor and creative genius mixed in.
What do we know about that period? We do know that racism was prominent. We know that it would have been very very unlikely that during Grant's term, the top Secret Service agent would be a Black man. That didn't stop central casting. The White guy was out.
Will Smith did a decent job in the movie. That's not the point. The point is, a White man played the role on television. He did a very good job at it. I would have appreciated them staying with the story line. They didn't. I considered that to be a racist move.
Here we are with Ghostbusters, and the male roles are changed to female. Just looking at the trailers, my take on it would be that every other line would be vulgarity on parade. The subtle comedic touch seldom makes into this type of swap out. I didn't see the movie, but I know the desperation to be seen as funny, and what movies today often do to provide humor.
As soon as I saw what they were doing, this movie was a no-go for me.
I expected the campy fun humor from the other Ghostbuster movies to be replaced with sexist vulgar messages.
Not on my dime...
I haven’t seen it, nor will I.
The IMDB reviews, however, were some of the most hilarious things I’ve read.
I’m betting they were funnier than the movie.
